Jetstream 41

Our Jetstream 41 was delivered in 1995, as the 65th Jetstream 41 built out of a production run of 100.

Starting its life in Prestwick, before being ferried to South Africa later that year to operate commuter services for SA Airlink along with 15 other Jetstreams. It was operated here until 2011.

It next flew for Brindabella Airlines starting in July 2013. This small airline operated along the East coast of Australia based out of Canberra - and briefly operated under codeshare flights for Qantas. Later that same year, the airline ceased operations and this aircraft was ferried back to the UK where it sat untouched for almost a decade.

The airframe was broken up in November 2022 - this is where we stepped in to save the forward section of the airframe to restore and preserve

Restoration

The aircraft was completely stripped prior to us receiving it - missing most of the cockpit panels and all of the cabin interior. The below photos show the state of the aircraft prior to us working on it

We have been able to source mostly original parts from other operators - and everything else has been made in house. We benefit from having worked around these aircraft for real so have had a good source of reference photos / guidance from real J41 pilots on to help ensure the final product is as accurate as possible.

2022 - the cockpit and cabin were completely stripped out

2023 - At this point the aircraft had been transported down to our garage and a substantial amount of work carried out including:

  • Sourcing and refitting cabin trim.

  • Interfacing most of the warning lights from 20 year old bulbs to new LEDS.

  • An early version of the instrument screens had been added.

  • Buttons, Controls, throttles all interfaced with X-Plane.

  • A thorough clean!

A large improvement compared to 2022!

2024 - The simulator was finished in its “version 1” configuration - mostly operational but still a few gaps in the main instrument panel and some other issues with controls and lighting to overcome
